One kirri unit scents an entire home. Not one room, not one floor, up to 300sqm from a single point. That's the whole idea behind what we do.
It's the question we're asked more than any other. A client building his own home recently put it perfectly:
"Do you have anything applicable for integrated home scents? A system where, once set, it would not be distributed through a single device, rather through the entire home? I have a stand-alone currently which I love but is only small and only fills one room, what's the next step?"
The next step isn't a bigger system. It's a better one.
Most diffusers are built for a room, so filling a house means buying four or five of them and hoping they hold a consistent scent between spaces. Ours are built for the house. One unit, placed well, carries the same fragrance through every room, with nothing plumbed into walls or ceilings and nothing locked in during the build. Fit it during construction, mid-renovation, or three years after move-in. It works the same either way.
Here's the part most people don't expect. Your air conditioning still does the distribution work. Once the fragrance is diffused into the air, the HVAC draws it up through the return and pushes it right back through the house, exactly as it would with any other air in the home. You get whole-home circulation from your existing system, without a drop of oil ever entering it.
So Why Not Just Run It Through the Air Conditioning?
Because the ducting already reaches every room, plumbing fragrance directly into HVAC looks like the obvious shortcut. It's the option we're asked about most, and the one we recommend against every time.
It's expensive before it does anything. Installation runs around $2,000, plus hundreds of dollars a month to keep it running.
It can void your property insurance. Introducing fragrance into an HVAC system is often enough to invalidate a policy entirely.
And it leaks. This is the real problem. There are no industry guidelines covering how these systems should be installed, so the safeguards that prevent leaks are routinely skipped:
- No air pressure sensor. Without a sensor cutting the pump when airflow stops, fragrance keeps pumping into ducts with nothing to carry it. It pools instead of dispersing.
- No inspection camera at install. The fragrance line ends up buried in insulation, soaking in rather than diffusing, or fitted into a vane that turns air around a corner. Either way, it leaks.
- Soft ducting. Almost every home has it, because metal ducting is too expensive residentially. But a spigot, the part that pulls fragrance correctly out of the line, can't be fitted to soft ducting at all.
- No spill bucket under the drum. The rubber gasket in a fragrance drum fails eventually. Without a bucket beneath it, that failure lands in your ceiling.
When it leaks, the damage is severe. Fragrance oil is corrosive and doesn't evaporate. It has to be cleaned with sand and detergent. Contaminated ducting is replaced, not cleaned. In metal ducting the oil eats through the adhesive holding the system together, then works into the roof cavity, sagging the roof and soaking insulation. If it reaches electrical wiring, it's a fire risk. Full remediation across ducting, insulation, ceilings, and roofing can reach hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Poor placement wastes most of the fragrance anyway. Fitted to return air instead of supply air, the scent is absorbed by HEPA filters, which then need replacing far more often, and the rest is vented out through fresh air turnover.
Then there's the hardware. Pumps and fragrance units need mounting supports rated to at least 10kg, ideally 20kg, and drums fitted into supply air are usually awkward to reach when they need refilling.
Done meticulously, HVAC scenting can work. It's still costly, complex, and permanent. Done the way it's usually done, it's a leak waiting for a quiet Tuesday.
The Simpler Answer
One unit. No ducting, no pumps in your roof cavity, no insurance risk, no oil anywhere near your wiring. Your air conditioning still moves the fragrance through the house, it just never has to touch it.
